Question 51 (Textile Engineering & Fibre Science)

A 30s Ne cotton yarn has an average strength of 350 cN with CV of 10%. Minimum number of samples which must be tested to obtain an average value of yarn strength with less than 5% error 95% of times is

(A)10
(B)16
(C)25
(D)36
[Show Answer]

Option B is correct.

Count of yarn=30s Ne

Average strength=350cN

CV%=10%

Number of samples(N)=?

Standard error(SE)=5% less of 95% times

SE=95 x 5/100

SE=4.75

By formula-

N=(\frac{1.96 \times CV}{SE})^2

N=(\frac{1.96 \times 10}{4.75})^2

N=17.02
