Question 24 (Textile Engineering & Fibre Science)

The order and degree of the following differential equation are

    \[x \left ( \frac{dy}{dx} \right ) + \frac{2}{\left ( \frac{dy}{dx} \right )} = y^2\]

(A)order 1, degree 1
(B)order 1, degree 2
(C)order 2, degree 1
(D)order 2, degree 2
[Show Answer]

    \[x \left ( \frac{dy}{dx} \right ) + \frac{2}{\left ( \frac{dy}{dx} \right )} = y^2\]

Or we can write it like-

x(\frac{dy}{dx})^2+2=y^2(\frac{dy}{dx})

Here, differentiation is one time only \frac{dy}{dx}
So, the order of the equation is 1
and
The power of the equation is 2 i.e. (\frac{dy}{dx})^2
So, degree is 2
Option B is correct.
