Question 26 (Textile Engineering & Fibre Science)

A filament yarn of 300 denier is being spun at a take up speed of 900 m/min. Assuming the density of the melt as 1.2 g/cm3, the throughput speed (cm3/min) at the spinneret would be ___________

[Show Answer]

Given in the question-

Denier of the filament=300

i.e. gm/meter=300/9000
=1/30 g/m
gm/cm=1/3000
gm/cm=1/3000

Take up speed=900 m/min
=90000 cm/min

Density of melt=1.2 g/cm3

Throughput speed at spinneret(cm3/min)=?

Calculations-

Throughput speed(cm3/min)=g/cm x take-up speed/density of melt

Throughput speed(cm3/min)=(1/3000) x 90000/1.2

Throughput speed(cm3/min)=25 (Ans)
