Question 42 (Textile Engineering & Fibre Science)

A shuttle loom producing 3 up 1 down twill fabric is running at 180 picks per minute. The angular velocity of the tappet (cam) shaft in radian per second, accurate to two decimal places, would be ………………

[Show Answer]

Write Here

Given in the question:

Weave type=3 up 1 down twill

i.e., total picks=3+1
Total picks=4

Fabric speed=180 picks per minute

=180/60 picks per sec

Fabric speed=3 picks/sec

The angular velocity of the tappet(cam) shaft(radian/sec)=?

Formula:

Angular velocity(v)=2\times\pi \times N

Where, N=Speed of tappet shaft(per sec)

Tappet shaft speed(N)=Fabric speed/Total no. of picks

Tappet shaft speed(N)=3/4 per sec

Angular velocity(v)=2 \times\pi \times N

Angular velocity(v)=2 x 3.14 x 3/4

Angular velocity of tappet shaft(v)=4.71 radian/second (Answer)
