Question 44 (Textile Engineering & Fibre Science)

A 38 cm diameter circular knitting machine accommodates 4 needles per cm. The stitch length is 6 mm and wale constant can be assumed to be 42.2. The flat fabric width (cm) in finished-relaxed form is __67 : 68__.

[Show Answer]

Write Here

Given in the question:

Dia of knitting machine(D)=38 cm

No. of needles=4 needles/cm

Stitch length(l)=6 mm

Wale constant(Kw)=42.2

Fabric witdh=?

Formula:

Fabric width=Number of needles/wpcm

Where,
wpcm=wales per cm

wpcm=Kw/l
=4.22/0.6
wpcm =7.03

Circumference of the knitting machine=\pi\times D

=3.14 x 38 cm

Circumference=119.32 meter

Number of needles=4 needles/cm

By untiary rule:
i.e.,
1 cm length have=4 needles

Then, 119.32 cm length have=4 x 119.32 needles

i.e, Total number of needles=477.28

Now,
Fabric width=477.28/wpcm

=477.28/7.03

Fabric width=67.89 cm (Answer)
