What is stelometer used to measure? | How is fibre strength measured?
The stelometer is used to measure the bundle fiber strength of textiles. In this context, the stelometer is used to determine the strength of a bundle of fibers that have been extracted from the fabric or yarn being tested.
To perform this test, a bundle of fibers is clamped at both ends and a controlled force is applied to the center of the bundle using the pivoting arm of the stelometer. The force is increased gradually until the fibers break, and the maximum force that the fibers can withstand before breaking is recorded.
The Stelometer instrument is used to measure the bundle strength of fibres with the help of the pendulum lever principle. Stelometer is based on the CRL(Constant rate of loading) principle.
