Question 48 (Textile Technology & Fibre Science)

A shuttle loom having 1.75 m reed width is running at 180 rpm. The shuttle enters and leaves the shed at 120o and 240o angular positions of crankshaft, respectively. If length of the shuttle is 0.25 m, then the mean velocity (in m/s) of the shuttle within the shed is __18.0 to 18.2__.

[Show Answer]

Write Here

Given in the question
Reed width=1.75 m

Loom speed=180 rpm

The shuttle entre the shed at 120o

The shuttle leaves the shed at 240o

Length of shuttle=0.25 meter

Mean velocity(m/s)=?

Calculation

By formula:

Mean velocity(v)=\frac{(Reed width\dotplus length of shuttle)\times6\times loom speed}{(\theta_2-\theta_1)}

Mean velocity(v)=\frac{(1.75\dotplus 0.25)\times6\times180}{(240^o-120^o)}

Mean velocity(v)=\frac{2\times6\180}{120}

Mean velocity(v)=\frac{2\times6\180}{120}

Mean velocity(v)=\frac{2160}{120}

Mean velocity(m/s)=18.0 (Answer)
