Question 53 (Textile Engineering & Fibre Science)

Under a load of 500 cN, the extension of a yarn of 300 mm length us 10%. If the elastic recovery is 90%, then the length (mm) of the yarn after removal of load is __303__.

[Show Answer]

Write Here

Data given in the question:

Load(F)=500 cN

Extension(e)=10%

Length of yarn(L)=300 mm

Elastic recovery=90%

Length of yarn after removal of load(L2)=?

Calculation:

Yarn length after 10% extension at 500cN load(L1)=L+(L*10/100)

L1=300+(300*10/100)

L1=330 mm

i.e. Extended length(l)=L1-L
=330-300
l=30 mm

Extended length of yarn after 90% elastic recovery(l2)={l-(l*90/100)}

l2={30-(30*90/100)}

l2=3 mm

Length of yarn after removal of load(L2)=L+l2

Length of yarn after removal of load(L2)=300+3

Length of yarn after removal of load(L2)=303 mm (Answer)
