Question 20 (Textile Technology & Fibre Science)

A yarn is unravelled from a woven fabric specimen of 1 m x 1 m size. If the length of the straightened yarn is 1.1 m, then the crimp percentage (in integer) is ___.

[Show Answer]

Given in the question
Fabric specimen size=1 m x 1 m
i.e.,Crimped length of yarn=1 m

Straightened length of yarn=1.1 m

Now,by formula:

Crimp%=(Straightened length-Crimped length)*100/ Crimped length

Crimp%=(1.1-1)*100/1

Crimp%=0.1 x 100

Crimp%=10 (Answer)

Frequently Asked Questions | FAQs

What is Crimp Percentage ?

Crimp percentage is a measure of how much a material has been deformed during a crimping process. In crimping, a material is compressed in a specific way to form a permanent bend or secure a connection between two parts. Crimp percentage is expressed as a ratio of the amount of compression applied to the original size of the material being crimped. The higher the crimp percentage, the greater the deformation of the material and the stronger the crimp joint is likely to be.
