The number of spindles assigned to a Spinner is 1200. The end breakage rate is 15 per 100 spindle-hours. The number of standing breaks at any time is 9.

Question 79 (Textile Engineering & Fibre Science)

If a Spinner has the capacity to attend 36 breaks in one patrol which takes 9 minutes, the spindles to be allocated per spinner to maintain the same efficiency, will be

(A)800
(B)1200
(C)1600
(D)2000
[Show Answer]

Option C is correct.

Given in the question-

No. of spindes assigned to a spinner=1200

End breakage rate=15 per 100 spindles -hours

The number of standing breaks at any time =9

Spinner capacity to attend=36 breaks in 9 min

The spindles to be allocated per spinner to maintain the same efficiency=?

By unitary rule-

100 spindles have……………..=15 end breakage

So, 1200 spindles have……..=15 x 1200/100 breakage

Total breakage=180

By Unitary rule-

Spinner attend 36 break in…..=9 min

So, will 180 breaks in……..=9 x 180/36

Time taken to attend 180 breaks =45 min

Again by unitary rule-

Spinner attend 1200 spindles in 45 min

i.e

45 min ………………..=1200 spindles

Then, 60 min ………=1200 x 60/45 spindes

Spindles=1600 (Ans)

Spinner attend 1600 spindles in 60 min or 1 hr.
